Long distance empathy

No 1 son is not happy.
He has a long commute to work and is travelling up to 4 hours every day. Yesterday it all got too much and he msn'd me about it. He is a very resilient soul and he'll cope either by biting the bullet and continuing as he is or by getting another job.

I still feel that I should be able to solve all his problems and I've worried about him today but this evening I found out that he's at our home with his brother, playing football in the back garden and I feel relieved. Tomorrow he'll have a short ride to work with the Remote Gardener and the prospect of a long weekend ahead.
That's better!

It is tough being a mum - trying to make everything right - Mel was in a rotten job over the summer but she really needed the cash - she was being treated very badly - stuck it out for about 5 weeks and then finally packed it in - money or no money - consequently she is very skint and very bored - can't wait to go back to uni. Kris has major accountancy exams next week - is studying all hours God sends.

Cool photo! Cool lad as well. Know what you mean about them always being your kids. Spose we were as well (not your kids, I mean, but our parents'!)

We managed to get through it, though, and I think one of the great things about modern parenthood (at least our version of it) is the way our kids will open up to us in ways we would never have thought of with our parents.

By the way, Joan, it is only extreme boredom - usually with the company of his close family - that drives Ant to read. The girlies are bookworms, though.
